Privacy Policy

Who is responsible for your information
I am Christopher Harris, the author writing as C.S. Harris and operating C.S. Harris Books in Maine, United States. This policy explains how I handle personal information connected with csharrisbooks.com, my author newsletter, reader offers, and advance reader activities.
For privacy questions or requests, email csharrisbooks@gmail.com.
Information collected and how it is used
When you subscribe, request a reader offer, or apply to the advance reader team, I collect the information requested on that form, such as your name and email address. My service providers may also record signup source, date, consent details, IP address, and delivery or download activity. I use this information to manage your subscription, provide the material you request, and administer reader activities.
If you join my newsletter, I use your contact information to send book news, reader extras, original artwork, occasional offers, and related updates from C.S. Harris. Some free-book offers include a newsletter signup, as explained on the offer form. Other book-delivery links do not require a newsletter subscription.
If you email me, I receive your email address, message, and anything else you choose to send. I use that information to respond and manage our correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your request.
The website and its providers may process technical information such as IP address, device and browser details, pages visited, and interaction data to operate and secure the site, diagnose problems, and understand how it is used.
Services that help me operate
Wix hosts the website and provides website infrastructure, security, and analytics. MailerLite stores subscriber information and helps me manage forms, newsletters, automated emails, and subscription preferences. BookFunnel hosts reader offers and delivers digital books. Information collected through a newsletter offer on BookFunnel may be transferred to MailerLite or retained for later list administration, depending on that offer.
These providers process information to deliver their services and may also process some information for their own purposes, as explained in their privacy policies. My email provider also processes messages you send me. I may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, security, or prevent fraud and abuse.
I do not sell or rent my newsletter mailing list. Using service providers to operate the website, deliver books, and send emails involves sharing information with those providers.

Cookies and website analytics
Wix uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as security, stability, and site operation. The site also has a Google tag configured to support analytics. When analytics operates, Google may receive information about your visit, including pages viewed, browser or device information, and your IP address.
You can use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect website functions. Google explains its processing and available controls at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Email measurement and your choices
MailerLite emails may contain a small tracking image that records when an email is opened. Email reports can also record link clicks and related technical information. I use these reports to understand reader engagement and improve my emails; open counts are not always an accurate record of whether someone read a message.
You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting me at csharrisbooks@gmail.com. Blocking remote images in your email app can limit open tracking, though it does not necessarily prevent click tracking. Unsubscribing stops future marketing emails; it does not automatically erase all past records or prevent a response to a request you send me.
How long information is kept
I keep subscriber information while you remain subscribed and for as long as reasonably needed to administer the mailing list. After you unsubscribe, limited records may be kept to respect your opt-out, document consent, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
I keep correspondence and reader-offer or advance-reader records for as long as needed to handle the request or activity, allow reasonable follow-up, and meet applicable legal obligations. Retention depends on the purpose of the record, whether the relationship is ongoing, and any legal need to preserve it. Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove copies held in provider backups.
Where information is processed
I operate in the United States. My providers may store or process information in other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Their privacy policies explain their processing locations and applicable safeguards.
Your privacy requests
Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. You may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact csharrisbooks@gmail.com to make a request. I may need to verify your identity before providing or changing personal information.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, I rely on consent for newsletter marketing and consent-based tracking, legitimate interests for responding to inquiries and operating a secure website where permitted, and legal obligations where retention or disclosure is required. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Other websites and policy updates
Links to retailers, merchandise shops, social networks, and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Check their policies before providing information or making a purchase.
I may update this policy when my services or practices change. The published policy will show its latest revision date.
